      I know I've probably been posting too many entries regarding Mount St. Helens but
      it's big news around here and I just can't help myself.
   </p>
        <p>
      Today was the biggest blast yet and you can read the <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6092368/">full
      story here</a>. Scientists are still holding to this idea that it won't be anything
      like the 1980 eruption. After reading this and many other articles I have come to
      the conclusion that they really have no idea how big the blast is going to be. All
      of the quotes below are from the same article. Notice all of the contradictions.

      <description>&lt;p&gt;
   The news agencies are telling us that an eruption like the one that happened in 1980

   I hope they aren't using the same equipment to predict this as they use to predict
   the weather around here.

      I keep hearing people compare the current situation in Iraq to the war in Vietnam
      as if it were the same or worse. It boggles my mind how people can just casually spew
      such nonsense as if it were factual.
   </p>
        <p>
      In Iraq we have had a little over 1,000 US casualties in just over a year of fighting.
      The Iraqi government and military that was in existence when we entered that country
      has been successfully defeated and what remains are attacks from a whole bunch of
      loose cannons playing dirty pool.
   </p>
        <p>
      In Vietnam we lost well over 53,000 US lives over the span of 11 years. We never fully
      defeated their military or government and we eventually pulled out. 
   </p>
        <p>
      Can anybody tell me how these two events are even remotely similar???
   </p>
